UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS

ONE HUNDRED YEARS

MARCHANT

For one hundred years, Marchant has been privileged to serve as a custodian of Asian art and antiques, a leading name in imperial Ming and Qing porcelain, jade and Chinese works of art.

The last seventy years with their building on Kensington Church Street was far more than a gallery; it served as an enduring sanctuary where the history of the East has been shared with generations of devoted collectors. Marchant carry the memories of these spaces with profound gratitude, and it is with a mixture of poignant reflection and optimistic anticipation that they prepare for their migration to Mayfair.

To commemorate the occasion, Marchant are honoured to present a unique “without reserve” auction - a heartfelt expression of appreciation to the collecting community. By removing reserves, they can invite both established connoisseurs and those embarking on their first acquisition to participate in their legacy, ensuring these exceptional pieces find homes where they will be equally cherished.

The relocation to 26 Brook Street is a significant milestone. This move is, as Richard Marchant, Life President, notes, “not merely a change of address; it is a bold declaration of our enduring commitment to excellence and a promise to present the finest Chinese art in a location that is both historically significant and at the forefront of contemporary culture.”

Housed in a meticulously restored 18th-century Georgian townhouse, the new premises offer an expansive vision for the future. The space features dedicated areas for curated collections, special exhibitions, and private rooms for scholarly discourse and connoisseurship. “We are incredibly excited,” says CEO Stuart Marchant. “This prestigious location will allow us to showcase our collections to an even wider audience.”

As Marchant bridges the richness of their fourth-generation history, with the promise of this new chapter, they bid farewell to Kensington and move to their new elegant setting in the heart of London’s art district.
