Dore & Rees Auction Salerooms in Frome, UK, is pleased to offer an extremely rare Anglo-Norman parcel gilt censer pinnacle on 24 June. Dating to circa 1150, this modestly formed piece, standing 8.5cm high, is creating quite a stir in early silver collecting circles due to its rarity. This example is unique among a small group of Anglo-Norman metalware held at the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

These long stone-carved 19th century ‘spear clubs’ known as ‘akatara’ are of a very distinct design and come from the Cook Islands and even the story behind this is interesting - they had been rescued from a friend’s garden in the 1970s, where they had been used to support beans!
