‍ ‍ ‍‍LAUNCH NIGHT: Friday 18th September 6-9pm, all welcome

‍ONLINE AUCTION: Opens live on Launch Night www.galabid.com/great-dexhibition running until 27th September.

‍ ‍‍All proceeds from the skateboard auction will go towards the new Frome skatepark.

More than 40 skateboard decks by an incredible line-up of local and national artists, are going on display in Frome this September before being auctioned to help fund the town’s new skatepark.

‍The Great Dexhibition will take over The Station Gallery, Station Approach, Frome, BA11 1RE, from 18th-27th September, giving visitors the chance to see the full collection and bid online at www.galabid.com/great-dexhibition and secure an original artwork for themselves.

‍ ‍Artists including Cheba, Nicky Knowles, James Lynch, Sepr, Kate Matsevych, Andy Council, vqtkufi (Colm), Mel Day, Paris, Chris Pig, Mutartis and Kate Elkington are among those who have donated their time and creativity to the project, each turning a blank skateboard deck into an original artwork.

The ‘dexhibition’ launches with a special event on Friday 18th September, from 6-9pm, where the online auction will officially go live - and everyone is invited.

‍ ‍‍Whether you want to place an online bid on the night, or afterwards - every successful bid will help bring Frome closer to getting the new skatepark its community has been campaigning for.

ART WITH A BIGGER PURPOSE

‍ ‍‍The exhibition has been organised by Frome Skatepark Project (FSP), a volunteer group working to help raise the money needed to build a new skatepark for the town. ‍‍The project needs to raise around £400,000 and, with the support of Frome Town Council, FSP has now passed the halfway point towards that target.

‍ ‍‍Kim Martin from Frome Skatepark Project, said:
“The response to The Great Dexhibition has been incredible. We gave artists a blank skateboard deck and asked them to do whatever they wanted with it and what has come back is an amazing collection of completely unique pieces of art. We’ve got work from brilliant artists from Frome and further afield, with an extraordinary range of styles. Seeing more than 40 of them together in one space is going to be pretty special. But there’s a bigger purpose behind it. Every deck sold takes us another step closer to the £400,000 we need to build a new skatepark for Frome. We’d love people to come along on launch night, enjoy the art, have a drink, watch the live auction and hopefully find a deck they’d love to own. If you can’t make it to the launch night, the exhibition will be open until 27th September, and you’ll be able to bid online until the exhibition ends.”

‍ ‍The Great Dexhibition is about more than skateboarding. The collection brings together art, creativity and community to help create a new public space that can be enjoyed by generations of young people in Frome.

‍ ‍‍And with every skateboard being an original, there really will only ever be one chance to own each piece!
