Dore & Rees and Susan Rumfitt Fine Jewellery launch joint auctions in Frome, Somerset

Lee Young, Managing Director of Dore & Rees and Susan Rumfitt announce that they will be holding joint auctions at Dore & Rees’ auction salerooms in Frome.  This strategic partnership will enable them to work on two joint Jewellery auctions a year in addition to continuing their individual successful businesses under their own leadership.

Susan Rumfitt Fine Jewellery in Harrogate continues to be the ‘go to’ place for direct buying and selling of high-quality jewellery and Susan is thrilled to be able to offer her clients this additional service: “The opportunity to sell jewellery at live auction is well received and will achieve strong results.   The excitement of the auction saleroom is always a draw for passionate collectors whether participating in the room or online,” said Susan.

For Dore & Rees, these joint jewellery sales will mark a further expansion of their rapidly growing specialist auction offering.  Under the leadership of Lee Young, the re-vitalised auction rooms have gone from strength to strength since he took over in May 2021.  Fine Jewellery auctions will sit alongside highly successful auctions of Fine Asian Art, Classic Cars and Select Interiors.

Dore & Rees is fast making a name for itself as the perfect saleroom to host boutique collection sales, a prime example being The John Sieverdink Collection auction held on 2nd March during which market leading prices were achieved for paintings by Edward Seago.  Lee said: “I am delighted that Susan has chosen to partner with Dore & Rees, we both share a strong commitment to delivering tailored services for our clients underpinned by deep subject knowledge – it’s a perfect fit!  It’s a coup for Dore & Rees to be offering such high grade professional jewellery expertise to our clients and we are excited launch the auctions in July”

Susan has built up a loyal following at her Gallery since it was established in 2006 offering advice to collectors, buyers and sellers alongside assisting with their valuation and repair requirements together with a popular lecture program.  Susan has a passion for jewellery and an intimate knowledge of its history and design which she will be bringing to these joint auctions.  She is a Freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company and an accredited lecturer for the Arts Society.

Lee is a leading specialist in Asian Art, and has a deep knowledge of furniture, works of art and ceramics.  Both Lee and Susan have a background in the auction sector.  Susan previously worked for both Christie’s and Phillips; Lee came to Dore & Rees from Duke’s Auctioneers in Dorchester and has held roles at Lyon & Turnbull, Sotheby’s and Phillips.  They are both well known to many as experts on BBC Antiques Roadshow.
