Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all at Dore & Rees

We would all like to say a heartfelt thank you for your support. This past year has shown that auction remains a popular and rewarding medium for buying and selling during times of change across the world.  Our auction results show strong growth year on year, exceeding all our expectations.  Much of our success is down to our expanding repertoire of specialist auctions offering high quality lots across multiple online bidding platforms.  Our growing team of experts bring knowledge and experience to our clients in an approachable way, and we are building a reputation as a destination for friendly advice coupled with competitive commercial terms.  All wrapped up in fresh visual presentation through our website and social media channels enabling Dore & Rees to reach a global market.

There have been many highlights, to name a few – ‘View from Doges Palace, Venice’ by Edward Seago set us off to a strong start, selling for £101,497 in The John Sieverdink Collection auction on 2 March.  This was swiftly followed by a 1959 Gibson Les Paul ‘Burst’ electric guitar reaching £171,600 in the Guitars That Made History auction of 16 March.  A 1923 Rolls-Royce Silver-Ghost Piccadilly Roadster hit a high note in the Classic Car auction of 18 June, selling for £255,000, with a UK record price of £79,520 for a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Prototype (AF203) roadster in the same auction.  An Archaeological-Revival Gold and Micro-mosaic Theatrical Mask Brooch by Castellani topped the bill selling for £80,600 in the Jewellery, Watches and Objects of Vertu auction on 6 July.  And a rare Imperial famille rose ‘dragon’ moonflask with Qianlong blue seal mark and of the period attracted fierce bidding, selling for £227,500 in the Fine Asian Art auction of 7 November.

We have an exciting calendar of auctions planned for 2023. We can help you realise the value of items in your collection. Please be in touch to arrange a no obligation valuation at your home or at Dore & Rees auction salerooms.
